NEW SAFE Password Requirements
Effective July 24th
Beginning July 24th there are some new security requirements for SAFE Passwords. They are as follows:
- Passwords will need to be changed every 90 days.
- You will receive a message 7 days prior to the password expiration date stating: Your password will expire in (number) days. “Do you want to change your password? Yes or No”.
- If you select ‘No’ SAFE will open and allow you to proceed.
- If you select ‘Yes’ the “‘Change SAFE Password for user (login id)” window will open.
- Follow the instructions on the window. When you have successfully changed your password the following message will display, ‘Your SAFE password has been changed’. When the ‘OK’ button is clicked a second message will display, “SAFE must now exit to complete the password change”. You will need to log back in using your new password.
- Each time you login SAFE will display the number of days before your login expires. If you do not change your password before the expiration date you will receive a message, “Your password has expired contact the SAFE Help Desk”.
- Passwords must have the following.
- Between 8 and 30 characters
- At least one upper case character
- At least one lower case character
- At least one numeric character.
- You may also include special characters except for the ‘~’ tilde, single and double quotes.
- Passwords may only be used once every 12 months.
